A THRIVING Halesowen manufacturing firm has splashed out £1million on a new piece of machinery.
Somers Forge is a world leading manufacturer for the shipping and marine industries, and now it has added to its machine shop by purchasing a new £1million CNC Vertical Borer.
A spokesman for the firm said: "This investment has been made from continued success in the marine sector, the investment will further increase machining capabilities and capacity."
It has taken three months for the borer (pictured below) to be installed.
The award-winning company operates in the defence, marine, power generation and oil, gas, and nuclear sectors.
The firm, in Prospect Road, was formed in 1697, making it the tenth oldest family-run firm in the UK.
