THE collection of garden waste bins is about to end for people living in Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Rowley Regis and Oldbury.

Collections continue until Friday December 10, breaking over winter and restarting in Spring 2022.

The last collections will be made next week (week commencing November 29) or the week after (commencing December 6), depending on the fortnightly schedule for the area.

Councillor Ahmad Bostan, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “We are heading into our yearly winter break for garden waste next month and I want to remind residents that the remaining collections still give time to do those last gardening jobs such or collecting up the autumn leaves.

“We encourage everyone to make a note of their last collection dates and have their green bins ready before the final collection of this year.”

Collections will restart again over a two-week period from February 28, 2022.

People’s first green bin collection date in 2022 will depend on the fortnightly schedule for their area.

During the winter break, garden waste can still be recycled at the tip in Oldbury which is open seven days a week from 8am until 4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. People must book their slot at the tip at www.sandwell.gov.uk/tip.

Car users can book unlimited visits. Alternatively, garden waste can be put in the green bin for collection when the service restarts in spring.

Residents can view the date of their last collection by entering their postcode on the bin day calendar at www.sandwell.gov.uk/binday
