PRESENTS are being collected for disadvantaged children to make sure no young person in the city goes without a gift this Christmas.

Organiser Sheena Glew will be Worcester's very own Father Christmas appealing for gifts to give to youngsters in Warndon and Ronkswood.

She is appealing for people to help by donating presents for children of all ages with present ideas including arts and craft items, hair accesories and selection boxes.

Last year, she managed to collect 382 gifts from friends, family and colleagues which she gave to Warndon Community Centre to give to families.

The 56-year-old said: "I don't want children to wake up on Christmas day without presents.

"No child should go without a present for Christmas, no matter what the circumstances are and although I know times are extremely hard for lots of people and are struggling I'm hoping some will be happy to donate.

She is asking for donations of toys, books, colouring books and pens, craft items, for any ages.

For older children, she is appealing for books for teenagers, gloves, hair accessories as well as presents such as selection boxes.

"I'm hoping it will make a huge difference to children, they shouldn't suffer, nothing is their fault.

"Even if it is just a little present it means they at least get something and hopefully know that people care."

Mrs Glew said items can be donated to her workplace, Murrays Pharmacy in Henwick Halt or presents can be dropped off at Warndon or Ronkswood community centres.

She added that people could also search and message her on Facebook to arrange collection.
