A LOYAL employee who started as a temporary worker at a Halesowen store has celebrated 25 years' service.

Susan Smith started working at Scrivens’ manufacturing and distribution business Mersona Ltd in Coombs Road, Halesowen, more than two decades ago.

She has now celebrated her milestone 25 year anniversary after rising to the rank of hearing department supervisor.

General manager Gary Davies said: “Susan was recruited in 1996 as an agency worker and made such an impression that within three weeks she was offered a permanent role.

"We’re delighted she is still with us.

"She is well liked, reliable and very knowledgeable.”

Susan started as a purchasing clerk and now supervises the hearing department, which supplies hearing aids and associated equipment to Scrivens branches and customers.

Susan, who lives in Edgbaston, said: “I enjoy my job, the people and the environment.

"I didn't think I would be here 25 years later when I started as an agency worker.

"I can’t believe how quickly those 25 years have gone by.”

Susan received two pairs of trainers, a top and two bottles of perfume as her gift.

Family firm Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care was established in 1938 and has 173 branches.
