TWO men in their 20s were killed when their car hit a lamppost and caught fire on Hagley Road West, police have confirmed.

The two men, the driver and a passenger in a red Toyota Yaris, were confirmed dead at the scene near the junction with Winchfield Drive, in Birmingham.

The crash happened at 9.55pm last night (Tuesday January 11).

A third man, also in his 20s, is in hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch, as they try to establish what happened.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those affected by the collision and we'll be offering them all the support we can.

"We're in the early stages of establishing exactly what happened and we remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

"We'd ask anyone who was travelling along the dual carriageway and saw the red Toyota Yaris before the collision - or has information about the crash - to contact us.

"We would appreciate if drivers could check their dash cams as anything which was captured could assist our enquiries.

"This is a devastating time for the families of the victims and we’d urge people to come to us with any footage, rather than speculate and share potentially distressing material online.

"You can get in touch via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote log 4263 of 11 January. You can email our investigators directly at FL_COLLISION_INVEST@westmidlands.police.uk."
