TWO people have been injured following a fire at a fish and chip shop in Halesowen.

Firefighters were called to Penny’s Fish bar on Long Lane at around 12:30pm on Wednesday, January 12.

One ambulance and a paramedic were also sent to the scene.

A man and a woman sustained minor injuries and were discharged.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "Thirteen firefighters from Oldbury and Stourbridge fire stations responded to a fire in a fish and chip shop on Long Lane, Halesowen.

"We were called at 12.27pm at lunchtime on Wed 12 Jan. Two fire engines and a Brigade Response Vehicle were mobilised, with the first crew arriving within four minutes.

"The fire was confirmed to be out by 1pm. It is believed to have started accidentally, in ducting linked to a frying range."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.51pm by the fire service to reports of a fire on Long Lane in Halesowen. We sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

"On arrival, we found two patients, a man and a woman, both were assessed and had sustained minor injuries and were given self care advice and discharged on scene."

Long Lane between Nimmings Lane and Archer Way was closed for a period of time while emergency services responded to the incident.
