A PLAN to convert garages into a one-bedroom flat in Halesowen has been given the thumbs up by planners.

An application was submitted to Dudley Council to convert three garages at Greenways Court on Greenways.

The two-storey detached building where the garage is situated is currently made up of three flats and three garages.

The applicant wished to covert the existing garages into a flat, along with building a single storey front extension, a canopy and a store to the side.

The proposed flat would be made up of one bedroom, a kitchen with a separate sitting room and a shower room.

The plan received no objections from the public.

Granting the scheme approval, the officer’s report stated: “The proposal would change three integral garages back into better economic use thereby making a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the area.”

It added: “The proposed development would be of an appropriate design, scale and appearance that would not have an adverse impact upon the character of the area.”

The scheme was granted by Dudley Council’s planning department on January 20.
