A HALESOWEN card shop has closed suddenly with uncertainty surrounding its future.

A Write Card, which is based in the Cornbow Centre, closed around lunchtime last Wednesday (March 16).

A card shop has been open for 20 years at the site.

It is believed three other stores across the country have shut with staff having been made redundant.

A message was posted on A Write Card, Burton on Trent's Facebook page on Wednesday (March 16) saying the shop had shut and staff had been made redundant.

Uncertainty surrounds the future of the Halesowen shop.

Halesowen BID manager Vicky Rogers said the shop closed last Wednesday, but that she did not know any more about what had happened.

The Halesowen shop closed for five weeks in 2020 when the company went into liquidation on January 7, 2020.

At the time it closed all of its 15 stores including those in Halesowen, Bromsgrove and Walsall with the loss of 120 jobs, with the Walsall-based chain citing difficult trading conditions.

It reopened its Halesowen branch in February 2020 and was able to give all five staff who had been laid off their jobs back.

It was previously operated by a company called Card Party Limited.

A Write Card has been contacted for comment.
