A CARD shop in Halesowen is set to reopen after it closed suddenly in March.

A Write Card, which is based in the Cornbow Centre closed on March 16 along with other branches across the country.

The company went into administration for the second time in two years.

Previously, in January 2020, the Halesowen shop closed for five weeks as the company went into liquidation but then reopened the following month.

However, Tom Banner, owner of Kidderminster-based card shop, Card Stop, has bought all nine branches that shut their doors earlier this year.

These branches include Bromsgrove and Redditch.

Former staff members of the branches will be re-employed.

Mr Banner said: “As soon as I found out about the company going into liquidation, I had to pursue it.

“A lot of the A Write Card staff have worked for the company for a long time so it’s great they have their jobs back.”

The nine shops will trade as A Write Card and all branding will remain the same for the foreseeable.

The Redditch shop reopened on Tuesday, May 3, re-employing the four members of staff that previously worked in the store.

Reopening dates have not yet been confirmed for the remaining shops but are set to open their doors in the coming months.
