POLICE seized around 50 plants after discovering a cannabis factory at premises in Blackheath High Street.

The plants were found in the premises just after midday on Friday May 6 after police were alerted by a utility company worker.

Officers attended and seized the plants which will be forensically tested before being destroyed.

No one was found at the property at the time.

The police raid saw the power supply to a number of businesses turned off for the day and a spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said: "Power was turned off for safety reasons, affecting about 40 customers during the course of the day from 9.55am until about 4pm when the police concluded their operation.’
