SCORES of eager shoppers turned out to the opening of a huge new B&M store and garden centre in Oldbury this morning.
The new store at Birchley Retail Park opened today (Wednesday May 11) at 9am.
The discounted retailer has taken over part of the former Toys R Us store creating 55 jobs.
By 10.30am huge queues had formed inside the store as shoppers eagerly waited to purchase their goods.
Some people reported queuing for more an hour or more on social media.
One shopper said: "We were queueing for about an hour.
"You couldn't properly look at stuff as the queues were all up the aisles.
"There were three aisles of garden stuff as well as the garden centre."
The store manager said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic.
“A big thank you to the team at Smethwick Foodbank who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do in supporting the local people.”
In addition to opening the store, the foodbank team will also receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers, which will go towards helping continue their work.
Customers can expect to find a wide variety quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.
The store will also boast its own 5,384sqft garden centre, selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials.
