A GIRL was subjected to an attempted abduction in Rowley Regis.

The worrying incident happened on Cakemore Road at around 8.26am yesterday (Tuesday May 17).

A man jumped out of a van, grabbed the school student by the arm and told her to get into the back of a van.

She pushed him off and ran away.

Sandwell Council has sent out a warning to parents of pupils at local schools to be on their guard.

It states: "A report has been received of an incident that happened in Cakemore Road, Rowley Regis.

"A silver medium sized van slowed down and a male opened the sliding door and shouted at a student.

"The van then stopped on Woodnorton Road and a male jumped out and grabbed the student by the arm and told her to get in the back of the van.

"The student pushed him off and ran away.

"The male shouted at her "I know what school you go to."

The man is described as a white man in his early 40s, with dark brown stubble. He was bald with brown shaved hair on the sides and was wearing dark blue jeans, a white t shirt and a grey jacket.
