A BURGLAR found guilty of the murder of a Halesowen pensioner who he tied up and left for dead will now be sentenced next month.

Adris Mohammed tied 78-year-old David Varlow to a chair with a telephone cable at the pensioner's home on Manor Lane.

Mr Varlow died from a heart attack brought on by the stress of his ordeal.

Mohammed, who faces life in jail, was due to be sentenced today (Wednesday May 25), but the hearing was adjourned and will now taken place on June 9.

In all the 44-year-old burglar, of Icknield Port Road, Birmingham - targeted the home three times - once after Mr Varlow was dead and more than £8,000 was spent using his stolen card.

Mohammed returned to Mr Varlow’s home at around midnight on November 11 with a second man, O’Shea Swan.

There, they would have seen Mr Varlow was dead. They untied him and stole a second bank card.

Swan, 42, of Winson Green Road, was convicted of the 11 November burglary and fraud.

Both men will be sentenced on June 9.
