THE 'devastated' family of a a teenage dad shot in a Cradley park have been told that he will never walk again.

Connor Harper, 17, was shot at Homer Hill park on the evening of Friday April 8.

He was shot three times while with friends with police treating the incident as attempted murder - the shooter has not been found.

Connor's sister Leanne Bayliss, 30, from Rowley Regis, said: "Doctors have told Connor he will never walk again.

"We are devastated his life will never go back to the way it was - but so thankful and lucky we still have him here with us.

"At the minute, he is being taught how to live his life in a wheelchair.

"He will spend his 18th birthday in hospital."

The 30-year-old said Connor was reunited with his son, six-month-old Jaiden, in hospital for the first time.

A fundraising page set up to support Connor has raised £1,066.

The gofundme appeal, set up by Leanne in April, states: "Connor was shot in the back 3 times and 2 of those bullets went straight into my brothers spinal cord and have done a lot of damage.

"Connor is currently in QE hospital and has to lie completely flat on his back for 6 weeks and then Connor will be sent to a spinal hospital for 3-12 months."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We continue to investigate. No arrests have been made at this time.

"The boy remains in hospital with life-changing injuries."
