A HALESOWEN schoolgirl has won gold at the World Cheerleading Championships in Florida.
Ruby Weston, a Year 9 student at Windsor High is celebrating after her team won the gold medal at the International Cheer Union (ICU) World Cheerleading Championships.
Ruby and her teammates represented England in the youth section and became the 2022 World Champions.
Ruby also competed for her club team, Coventry Dynamite TNT, whilst in Florida in the 2022 Summit World Championships.
The team made it to the finals where they came an impressive 16th out of 65 qualifying teams from around the world.
Ruby said: "I am so proud to say that I have represented Team England and Coventry Dynamite in a sport that I love, with my favourite people alongside me.
"It was the most amazing opportunity and an experience I will never forget."
Gemma Rayson, Ruby's form tutor said: "It's a fantastic achievement and an experience that she can take with her through life."
