PLANS for a new home in the garden of a Halesowen property have been given the go-ahead.

The bid to build one house in the garden of 18, Hurst Green Road, has been approved by planners at Dudley Council.

An application to build two homes on the site was amended to just one home after it attracted objections from neighbours.

Three people living nearby complained that the garden was not large enough to accommodate two houses and six parking spaces and would lead to people parking on the street which is a very busy road.

A report by council planners states that the bid for two homes was "over development as indicated by a proliferation of frontage parking and a cramped housing scheme" but that "one dwelling, if appropriately located and designed in terms of scale and appearance to assimilate with the character of the area can be supported in principle."
