THREE men have been jailed after an 18-year-old was fatally shot in Tividale last year.

Kisharne Campbell, 24, of Vicarage Close, Tipton and Atif Khan, 25, of Park Lane, Tipton were sentenced on June 29 at Birmingham Crown Court to life imprisonment with minimum terms of 30 years and 27 years respectively for the murder of Kimani Martin.

A third man Usman Amjad, 22, of Wood Green Road, Wednesbury was sentenced to 18 years for manslaughter.

Kimani Martin was killed on June 20 last year in what appeared to be a revenge attack when the men pursued him in a stolen car and fired a single shot into the rear window of the taxi he was travelling in.

The defendants then fled the area and abandoned the vehicle which was later found burnt out.

Lorraine Anson of the Crown Prosecution Service said: "The defendants specifically targeted Kimani Martin and purposefully hunted him down.

“They were determined to take his life in retaliation for an earlier incident in which it is alleged Mr Martin had been involved in a robbery and kidnapping, and they did so with devastating results when they fired a single shot into the taxi.

"I hope today's sentences serve as a deterrent to those who might consider following in these despicable footsteps.

“We will robustly prosecute those committing these offences including, where the law allows, those offenders not actually firing the fatal shots but who encourage or assist in the act.

"I want to thank all those who were involved in investigating and prosecuting this ruthless and wholly appalling crime.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Martin in what has no doubt been a truly devastating time for them.”
