THOUSANDS of revellers turned out to enjoy the fun at the first Halesowen carnival in years.
Halesowen Carnival and Music Festival returned to Highfields Park on Saturday July 2 after a two year break due to coronavirus pandemic.
There was entertainment galore including fairground rides, a fun dog show, boy band Here At Last, who attracted many of their fans who got to get selfies with members and autographs and wrestling.
The Rat Pack with weatherman Des Coleman took to the stage along with a host of other performers who entertained crowds throughout the day and there were food and drink stalls for people to enjoy refreshments.
Carnival chairman councillor Stuart Henley said: "This year's event was a great success and had a brilliant atmosphere.
"Around six to seven thousand people visited and they were not put off by the weather.
"So many people have taken the time to thank us for a great day and saying how well organised it was.
"We will soon be going through the many applications and planning next year's event - it gets bigger each year with higher numbers attending.
"This would not be possible without the committee who give up their time throughout the year to plan the event, without the sponsors who assisted in part funding the many events, and especially all those who attend on the day such as the visitors, stall holders and performers."
The carnival, sponsored by Anytime Fitness and Smart and Secure, Halesowen, was opened at noon by Dudley Mayor Sue Greenaway.
Monies were collected this year's charity the Alzheimer's Society. A raffle was held with the winner getting tickets for a family of up to five to travel anywhere on National Express routes for free.
Next year's carnival will be on July 1 and the committee are already receiving many enquires.
