A NEW Costa coffee looks set to be on its way in Blackheath.

Plans for a new Costa Coffee shop with drive-thru on the A4099 Horner Way have gone in to Sandwell Council.

The parcel of land, opposite Sainsbury's, is currently wasteland.

If it gets the go-ahead the new coffee shop and drive-thru, which would open from 5am until 11pm every day, will create 15 jobs.

Notes to planners state that: "the site is located on land along the A4099 Horner Road, approximately 60m before the junction with Long Lane (A4034) and Archer Way and opposite a Sainsbury’s superstore.

"The site is currently an unused plot of green space."

Plans include 19 car parking spaces, with two disabled spaces and three kerb-side collection spaces.

Planning permission for a MOT testing centre was granted on the site (shown above left opposite Sainsbury's petrol station) last August, but did not come to fruition.

The application will be considered by planners at Sandwell Council.
