THE driver of a BMW had a lucky escape in Halesowen when it burst into flames.
A passing member of the public spotted flames under the BMW as it travelled on Long Lane today (Tuesday January 10) and flagged down the motorist.
Firefighters from Shell Corner put out the car, which was on fire at Shell Corner Trading Estate, opposite Munir and Bro's Supermarket, at 12.26pm.
The driver, a man, was shocked but unhurt.
Passerby Laura Addenbrooke took a video of the scene.
Watch commander Andy Wagner, from Haden Cross fire station, said: "A passerby stopped the driver because they saw flames coming from under the front of car.
"He pulled over and got out and the car became engulfed in flames.
"We sent one brigade response vehicle - the driver was OK but a bit shocked.
"We were at the scene for about 30 minutes."
