A HALESOWEN pub and restaurant has been handed a two-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Foxhunt Harvester Public House, in Hagley Road, Hayley Green, was given the score after an assessment on December 14, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

According to the national food hygiene ratings website, improvements are necessary in relation to the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to enable good food hygiene. This includes having having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control.

The rating means that of Dudley's 287 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 105 (37 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

The Food Standards Agency’s website rates businesses from zero to five so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A rating of five means hygiene standards are very good, four means hygiene standards are good, three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory, two means some improvement is necessary, a rating of one means major improvement is necessary and a rating of zero means urgent improvement is required.

People can see the results of all food hygiene inspections via Dudley Council’s website or on the national ratings.food.gov.uk website.

Pub, bar and restaurant operator Mitchells & Butlers, which lists the Foxhunt Harvester among its vast portfolio, has been contacted for comment.
