A HALESOWEN mum has opened her very own cake shop in the town centre.
Jen Day has opened Cupcake Daze on Hagley Road - with the shop going down a storm with sweet-toothed customers.
The shop is between Lex Allen and Bargain Pete and sells an array of sweet treats including blondies, brownies, doughnuts, cheesecake doughnuts, bronuts and old school sprinkle cakes.
Celebration cakes can also be made to order.
Jen, aged 48, worked as an office manager for around 16 years and used to bake in her spare time.
Her baking took off after was made redundant when pregnant with her second child.
Jen said: "I used to do baking in the evenings to relax and then when I was made redundant I started doing cakes for friends and family - someone said you're really good, you should do this as a job, so I would make and sell cakes from home and put the money back into doing courses.
"It all grew from there."
Jen is married to Ian, aged 41, the couple have three children - Lucy, 15, Jack 11 and Nancy, aged nine and live on Brookwillow Road, Halesowen.
She had been working out of a small shop on Hagley Road, but as there was no room for baking she was having to bake at home at night, which often meant she could be working until midnight.
She said: "The reaction to the new shop has been absolutely huge - a lot of people have said they are really pleased there's a baker here."
The shop is open on Tuesdays from noon till 4pm, and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and Saturdays from 10am till 4pm.
