PLANS to build a new house on land next an existing Halesowen home have been given the go-ahead despite objections.

The application to build a home next to 231a Long Lane has been approved by Dudley Council.

Two neighbours objected to the bid on the grounds that widening the existing driveway would cut down on the amount of on-street parking on the busy road.

One objector said: "Parking is already a nightmare outside my house, with us having to park round the corner some evenings.

"Also on a Friday it becomes more difficult than ever with worshippers going to the temple to pray.

"Widening the entrance to 231 will eat into the other neighbours parking availability."

Another raised concerns stating: "Due to the alleyway between 231 and the proposed erection, the widening of the driveway would put the driveway closer to pedestrians exiting the alleyway and could potentially put people at risk."

Despite the objections planners approved the outline application. They said Highways officers had raised concerns about the proposed parking layout, but further details would be required later on.

They said: "The indicative plans show vehicular access and parking would be to the side of the property with No. 231a."

They added: "The proposed development with all matters reserved, is considered to form sustainable development and be, in principle, acceptable."
