A MOTORHOME got stuck in a multi-storey car park in Halesowen - with emergency services called to the rescue.

Firefighters and police attended the unusual call-out at Asda's multi-storey car park at the Cornbow Shopping Centre on The Queensway around noon today (Monday July 31).

Two women who were in the vehicle intended to pop into the supermarket to pick up some supplies after a holiday, when things went wrong.

Firefighters from Haden Cross fire station in Cradley Heath loaded up the motorhome with firefighters and police and reversed it back down the ramp.

Watch commander James Clarke said: "They decided to stop when they heard scraping. They were a bit embarrassed.

"To increase the weight in the campervan we loaded in firefighters and police and let the tyres down a bit - then reversed it out.

"It took about ten minutes to get it out.

"The car park didn't suffer any structural damage - it was just the motorhome.

"They'd been on holiday and wanted to pop into Asda.

"It was an unusual call-out!"

Halesowen Police tweeted about the incident.

They said: "Halesowen NHT (Neighbourhood team) have assisted along with our Fire Service colleagues to release a trapped motor home which got lodged on the upper route to Asda Multi storey.

"Please ensure your vehicles meet the height restrictions to avoid any such incident."
