NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to nine borough eateries, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:

Discover U Tea Rooms at At The Old Bakery, Bridgnorth Road, Wollaston, was rated five on August 29.

The Colliery at Black Country Living Museum, Tipton Road, Dudley, was rated five on July 18.

Halesowen Leisure Centre & Pool at Great Cornbow, Halesowen, was given a four rating on July 26.

And five ratings have been handed to takeaways:

Spuds Plus at High Oak, Pensnett, was given a five star rating on August 8.

The Village Fisheries at Abbey Road, Lower Gornal, was given a three star rating on July 4.

Kens Takeaway at Broad Street, Pensnett, was rated three on June 29.

Chachas Roti at Wolverhampton Street, Dudley, was given a one rating on July 17.

Parkes Pizza & Kebab House at Parkes Hall Road, Woodsetton,was given a one rating on July 10.

Red Chilli, a takeaway at High Street, Wollaston, Stourbridge was given a one star rating after an assessment on August 1.

The ratings have been published on the Food Standards Agency’s website which rates businesses from zero to five so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A rating of five means hygiene standards are very good, four means hygiene standards are good, three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory, two means some improvement is necessary, a rating of one means major improvement is necessary and a rating of zero means urgent improvement is required.
