THE Gentlemen Songsters male voice choir continues to spread joy and funds to good causes.
The choir, which has been going for more than 60 years, has handed over cheques totalling £2,650 to two local causes.
Songster and former Dudley mayor Steve Waltho climbed 18 Lakeland peaks in June and later that month the Songsters held a sell-out Black Country Showcase concert.
Proceeds from the two events have now been shared between two local causes close to the hearts of the Songsters.
Chairperson Ken Crane handed over a cheque for £1,325 to New Cross Prostate Cancer Support Group treasurer Alison Littleford, who appealed for men to be sure they get tested for the condition.
Songsters president Anne Hodkinson then presented a cheque for £1,325 to Access In Dudley's Chair Tina Boothroyd.
AID is a disability user led charity which provides information and campaigns for better access to services, transport and buildings for the disabled community in Dudley.
Songsters’ chairperson Ken Crane said "We were delighted to be able to give donations to these two wonderful causes and praise their commitment to making the world a better place to live in.”
The group’s next major concert will be at Dudley Town Hall on Friday October 6, starting at 7.30pm.
The nationally acclaimed Sons of Pitches, who won Gareth Malone's Naked Choir competition in 2015, will be guests at the event.
Tickets are available from Dudley Town Hall box office or the Songsters website www.gentlemensongsters.com or from choir members.
