A MAN has been arrested after police raided a cannabis farm with plants work £200k in Smethwick.

Around 200 plants were discovered at a property on Hagley Road West today (Monday October 30).

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Police said the electricity meter had been bypassed at the property.

Sandwell Police tweeted: "Around £200,000 worth of cannabis plants have been taken off the streets of Smethwick as Safer6 comes to the town.

"At around 7.15am this morning (30 Oct), Smethwick Neighbourhood Team executed a warrant at a property on Hagley Road West.

"Officers discovered around 200 cannabis plants inside which is thought to be worth an estimated street value of £200,000.

"The electricity meter had also been bypassed to power the grow.

"A man, aged 27 has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

"All cannabis plants seized from the address will be destroyed.

"It comes as we're working together with partners to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and other community concerns through the current Safer 6 campaign in Sandwell."
