A COMMUNITY football tournament was staged by Halesowen Yemeni association at the weekend.
The Halesowen/Dudley Yemeni Community Association organised the Get Active and Healthy Tournament held at the Soccer Zone on Park Road, Cradley, yesterday (Sunday October 29).
Group chairman Marwan Bakaili said: "It was wonderful to see young people from diverse backgrounds getting together and enjoying playing football.
"All showed a unique spirit of cohesion and building bridges together as one community.
"We had teams from a wide area of the country representing different communities, Yemeni and non-Yemeni from Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham, Sandwell, and Halesowen.
"Congratulations to all who participated in the football tournament.
"It was a very successful day and the young people really enjoyed taking part."
Dudley Mayor Andrea Goddard and her consort James Clinton attended the event.
Representing West Midlands Police were Tarro Searle and Simon Beckles.
Halesowen/Dudley Yemeni Community Association is based on Highfield Lane, Halesowen.
