A DERELICT Old Hill building will be demolished to make way for much-needed parking.
The building on Clow Industrial Park, Garratts Lane, will be flattened to create a car park after planners at Sandwell Council gave the scheme the go-ahead.
The application states the move will help address a lack of parking on the estate and reduce parking on the busy road.
A letter to planners on behalf of Clow Group Ltd states: "The dilapidated state of the current structure not only poses safety concerns but also detracts from the overall visual and functional appeal of the area.
"The industrial estate, as a vital economic centre to the Old Hill area, has grappled with the consequences of insufficient parking facilities.
"Inadequate parking spaces have resulted in not ideal parking practices such as visitors to the premises parking on the pavement, leading to traffic congestion and compromising the safety of both employees, pedestrians, and visitors alike.
"The proposed conversion of the site into a dedicated car parking area is designed to provide a solution and easing to the existing parking challenges, thereby significantly enhancing the overall functionality of the industrial estate."
The estate is home to Pro-Music school, Classic Physiques Gym and Clow Group.
It is proposed that ten parking spaces be created.
