A 'TRAFFIC warden' was taken to hospital after being seriously hurt in an alleged attack in Oldbury.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the assault on Castle Road West at around 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday March 19).

The victim was taken to Sandwell Hospital by ambulance with "serious injuries."

Police arrested a 35-year-old man, who has been granted conditional bail, and have launched an appeal for witnesses.

The road was closed between Bleakhouse Road and Albert Road while police dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man was assaulted on Castle Road West.

"A man was given treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital following the assault.

"A 35-year-old man was arrested and has since been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said a man "was assessed by ambulance staff at the scene and had sustained serious injuries."

Councillor Jay Anandou said on social media the victim was a traffic warden.
