Residents have been warned of travel disruption across the West Midlands this week due to strike action.

ASLEP, the trade union representing train drivers, has announced it will strike on Friday, April 5, meaning there will be no West Midlands Railway services running.

There is also an overtime ban scheduled between Thursday, April 4 and Saturday, April 6 and between Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9, which will lead to reduced services.

Trains are expected to run as normal on Sunday, April 7.

A statement on the West Midlands Railway website said: "Services will be subject to disruption and cancellations during this period. Journey planners have been updated.

"You are advised to check your entire journey before you travel and check the first and last train times on each day impacted by industrial action."

"If you purchased a ticket for travel between Friday, April 5 and Monday, April 8 inclusive, this can instead be used on any day between Thursday, April 4 and Wednesday, April 10 inclusive. Please note tickets must have been purchased before March 20 and London Underground services are excluded."
