Over 1,500 chocolate eggs were donated to the NHS as part of its Easter appeal.

The Dudley Group NHS Charity launched its Easter egg appeal in February at Russell Hall Hospital, Corbett Outpatient Centre, Dudley Guest Outpatient Centre and its community sites, with the eggs to be given to patients to enjoy over the Easter weekend.

The charity has reported a number of high-profile donors, with community organisations including Dudley Lions, The Enterprise Group, Summerhill School, Lloyd’s Bank, Puregym, along with supermarkets, trust staff, and several other community members.

Amy Sargent, lead nurse on the Forget Me Not Unit at Russell Hall Hospital said: "Our patients on the ward loved the Easter treats they received whilst in hospital.

"We’d like to say a huge thank you for all the donations, it makes a real difference to our patient experience.”

Janet Moone, a patient on the unit, said: "For a chocoholic like me, receiving a chocolate treat in time for Easter was lovely and a kind gesture during my stay here."

The chief executive for The Dudley Group and a trustee of the charity, Diane Wake, said: "We have been overwhelmed with the amount of support for the appeal.

"I’d like to say to everyone who donated, a huge thank you for their wonderful contributions, it’s been incredible."

She especially expressed her thanks to Sam Powers, the charity's fundraising and events manager, for coming up with the idea.

The charity works to improve the welfare of patients by offering services and facilities that aren't generally funded by the NHS or the trust.

It works to enhance provisions for the patients, as well as the staff.
