A SHOCKED pub landlord thought 'World War Three' had started when a van crashed into his pub, causing the whole building to shudder.

A grey Ford Transit crashed into The Bridge Inn in Lowesmoor Terrace in Worcester while white Renault Iveco crashed into a wall opposite just before 10.15am.

Despite the impact, the pub is undamaged and open for business and there were no casualties in the pub itself as the landlord reveals what it was like to be inside when the incident happened.

Lloyd Cox, landlord of the Bridge, said: "The whole pub shuddered.

"I thought World War Three had started and I'd missed the announcement, or that the bulldozing had begun on the new Lowesmoor Wharf developments.

"On going outside, I found a grey van "parked", with the corner of my building stuck in the middle of its bonnet. Like a bike in a bike rack.

"The male occupant was fine, although inevitably claiming severe neck pain. There was another large white van on the opposite side of the road that had gone through a wall and railings.

"At no point in the melee did I see the driver or whether he was OK. Although neighbours told me how unlucky he was, because it was his first day in his new job, renovating windows in their apartment block.

"No one at the pub was injured, and the wall looks untouched. The emergency services were professional and although the road was temporarily blocked, they were able to get it all cleared and the road open again pretty quickly. Trading at the pub has been unaffected and we are open for business as usual."
