POLICE continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward a month after a firearm was discharged in Redditch.

Officers were called to Ombersley Close after a firearm was discharged in the street at around 1.15pm on Tuesday March 26.

No-one was injured, but a car was extensively damaged.

So far eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Four men, aged 19, 25, 33 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

One woman, aged 25, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has since been released on bail.

One man, aged 48, and a 20-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and both have now been released on bail.

Another woman, aged 20, was arrested on Thursday April 18 on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Arrowsmith said: “When a firearm is discharged it understandably brings huge concern to the local community. Thankfully in this incident nobody was hurt or even worse, killed.

“We have a dedicated team investigating what happened that afternoon, and we are still appealing to anybody who may have any information that could help our investigation.

“I appreciate that not everyone feels comfortable speaking with the police and I want to stress information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously. Crimestoppers is 100 per cent confidential."

He said people may feel the information they have is "irrelevant to the investigation" but he stressed: "However insignificant you think it may be, it could help us to put those responsible in front of a court and help us to keep our community safe."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or go to website crimestoppers-uk.org. Alternatively, people can call or send a message to 07773 041072.
