A COUPLE were taken to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" after falling down the escalator at a Halesowen shopping centre.
The incident happened at the Cornbow Shopping Centre on Saturday (April 27) at around 11.20am.
Paramedics treated the elderly couple at the scene and they were taken to the QE Hospital.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of two patients who had fallen at Cornbow Shopping Centre at 11.20am on Saturday.
"Two ambulances attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman, who were treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."
There have been a series of accidents on the escalators outside Asda over the past few years.
In 2019 two women were taken to the QE with serious injuries after an elderly gentleman suffered a dizzy spell and fell backwards.
Back in 2021 an elderly woman was taken to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" after falling down the escalator.
In 2022 an elderly man fell down the escalator and was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.
The Cornbow Centre has been contacted for comment.
