'NEVER-before-seen' footage has been released by police as part of a renewed appeal into the unsolved murder that took place more than 25 years ago.

Zafar Mehdi was attacked at his home on Basons Lane, Oldbury, at around 2pm on June 28, 2000.

He suffered a single stab wound to the chest and was found collapsed between the hallway and living room.

He died later in hospital.

West Midlands Police have now shared previously unseen video from the day of the murder, showing the crime scene, in the hope that it will trigger new leads.

The appeal was launched today (Friday, July 10), which would have been Mr Mehdi’s 70th birthday.

Two men seen arriving at the house in a white car and entering through the back door have never been traced.

They left the address before the stabbing was reported to police.

Mr Mehdi’s eldest daughter, Madonna, said: "June 28 still replays in my head like it was yesterday.

"Today (July 10) would have been my father’s big 70th birthday.

"Twenty-six years ago, losing my father was the hardest thing me and my family ever went through.

"We have had to endure the weight of this unsolved tragedy without justice.

"Words can’t explain the pain or the impact it’s had on me and family members all these years.

"All we have are the short years of memories that we got to share with him, and wishing he was here."

The two men seen at the scene were described as black, in their mid-20s to early 30s, and of medium build.

One was clean-shaven with short, straight hair, wearing a black leather jacket and dark clothing, and was said to have a ‘Jamaican’ accent.

The other was unshaven and wore a dark blue bandana, was also dressed in dark clothing, and was described as having a ‘Brummie’ accent.

Their vehicle was believed to be similar to a 1989 Vauxhall Astra, which had a green ‘private hire’ plate on the rear bumper.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police, quoting log 3171 of June 30.
