A HALESOWEN care home has marked its 10th anniversary with a party bringing together residents, staff and their families.

Gower Gardens Care Home, based on Kent Road, marked a decade since opening in 2016 with a gathering and gift presentations to two employees who have worked there since the beginning.

The nursing home, which was acquired by Kingsley Healthcare in 2022, has welcomed 392 residents over the past 10 years.

Home administrator Jackie Jones, who has worked at Gower Gardens throughout its history, reflected on her decade of service.

She said: "I enjoy my role and have always had a great relationship with our residents and their families.

"There have been 392 residents admitted since Gower Gardens opened its doors in 2016."

She added that the staff had always been friendly and supportive and they worked as 'one big family unit'.

Support worker Tracy Purcell was also recognised for completing 10 years at the home.

She said: "The team has always made Gower Gardens a lovely place to work and I'm grateful to be part of it.

"Over the years, I've seen so many positive changes that have benefited the residents in our care."

The anniversary also provided an opportunity to reflect on events held at the home over the past decade.

Hospitality manager Holly Payne recalled several memorable occasions, including four classic car shows and fundraising events supporting charities such as Ronald McDonald House, Children in Need and Help for Heroes.

The home has also marked several residents' personal milestones.

Ms Payne said: "Our wonderful residents have been the biggest part of the story.

"We successfully appealed for 100 birthday cards for Edna on her 100th birthday; our eldest resident Horace lived to the incredible age of 107."

Staff said they were proud of the home's links with the wider Halesowen community.
