TWO Oldbury schools are in the running for prestigious gongs at the 2009 Teaching Awards regional round.
Sally Harvey, a governor at Oldbury College of Sport, Pound Road, is competing for the DCSF Award for Governor of the Year, while St Hubert's Catholic primary, Clent Road, has been shortlisted for the DCSF Award for Sustainable Schools.
The regional winners will be announced at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday June 12. Winners then progress to the national finals later in the year.
Councillor Ian Jones, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: βIt is very encouraging that Sandwell has finalists varied categories and I wish them all well.
βI hope they can go on through to the national awards.β
