GENEROUS bankers in Blackheath have helped raise more than £70,000 for two charities.

Staff at the branch in Birmingham Road joined forces with over 200 branches across the region and pledged to support Rett Syndrome Association UK and Acorns Children’s Hospice with their fundraising activities in 2009.

Rett Syndrome was chosen as Barclays employee Rita Ross’s daughter was recently diagnosed with the devastating condition which leads to profound diasability problems.

Acorn’s was chosen because of the care and support they give to children with life limited conditions and their families.

At the latest fundraising event in July, staff from Barclays in Blackheath organised a raffle and a summer wear day in the branch and raised £1,270 after it was doubled by their employers.

Barclays employee Tracey Wolsey said “We had a fantastic day raising money for our two chosen charities.

"I would like to thank staff and customers for their continued support.”
