A PROJECT to combat isolation among the over 60s is up and running in Hurst Green.

The Blackheath Live at Home Scheme is well established in Blackheath and runs activities five days a week from its High Street base at the Central Methodit Church.

And after a successful launch attended by Black Country comedian Tommy Mundon, the service has opened a new satellite base at Hurst Green Methodist Church Hall, starting with a Thursday Food and Friendship lunch club.

The charity project is receiving £15,000 over three years from the Methodist Church and has had a £1,600 shot in the arm from Dudley Council for the new Hurst Street project which organisers hope will become as popular as the Blackheath scheme.

Anyone over 60 interested in joining the Thursday lunch club can come along to the Narrow Lane church from noon-1.30pm. For more details call 0121 559 6111.
