ELDERLY Halesowen residents enjoyed a festive tea dance thanks to the efforts of police community support officers.

The event, at Cornbow Hall in Halesowen town centre on Thursday December 17, was organised by PCSO Colette Hughes and was attended by elderly and vulnerable members of the community who enjoyed a dance and a sing-song.

During the event PCSOs handed out crime prevention advice and bells that can be attached to purses to prevent pick-pocketing which is prevalent over Christmas.

West Midlands Police communications officer Carly Anderson, who attended, said: "It was brilliant - there were lots of happy, smiling faces - it was a great opportunity for the officers and members of the community to mix."
