The October meeting was a very interesting talk with slides by John Billingham entitled ‘Old Halesowen – ‘An amble through days gone by’ – members contributed their memories.
Refreshment time was our Harvest supper – superb items of food supplied by Mrs Doreen Barton. Members enjoyed a skittles evening and a fish and chip supper.
At the November meeting, a delightful flower arranging demonstration on a Christmas theme by Mrs Sylvia Parkes was enjoyed by everyone – each arrangement depicting an aspect of the season – these were later raffled and six ladies were very lucky.
Also at the start if this meetign a cheque for £350 was handed to Mr Geoff Woodford on behalf of Midlands Air Ambulance service, being amount raised from a sponsored walk by members.
In December this was our 48th Christmas party held at Hagley Country Club, Wassell Grove – a very enjoyable evening – good meals and service, musical entertainment and many raffles.
An average of 30 members and occasional visitors at meetings.
Our guild’s singers entertained several local groups over the period – always appreciated.
We are now looking forward to 2010 beginning January 21. New members are always welcome.
Meetings are the third Thursday every month at 7.30pm.
