CREATIVE children have brought a dash of colour to Blackheath town centre after their pictures were displayed for all to see.

The Brickhouse Primary school pupils took part in an art competition run by the Black Country Housing Group and the winning entries are on the construction site of Blackheath Library.

All the children were asked to paint pictures of their favourite literary characters to brighten up the construction site while work is taking place to build the landmark library.

Sandra Spence, CEO of BCHG joined the children at the new library where their pictures are being displayed to congratulate them on their artistic talents.

She said: “We are delighted to have held this competition for Brickhouse School pupils. I am very impressed with the fantastic efforts of all those who participated in the competition – choosing the winning entries was a very difficult task.

“I would like to applaud the six winners for their brilliant pictures – they have really brought some colour to Blackheath High Street - we clearly have some budding young artists in the Black Country.”

The new, low carbon library, will be an landmark building on the High Street and also provide excellent new library facilities for local people as well as new offices for BCHG.
