BUSINESS Link West Midlands have announced that 47 jobs will go at its Quinton headquarters.

The public sector cuts have hit the organisation hard and 25 people have opted to take voluntary redundancies leaving 22 workers facing compulsory redundancy.

The job losses come after the organisation had its budget cut by Advantage West Midlands.

Business Link chief executive Lorraine Holmes announced the job losses with a heavy heart.

She said: “I very much regret having to make this announcement. The cuts imposed on funding mean that we can no longer operate a number of business support initiatives and that in turn affects the staff working in those areas and those supporting them through back-office functions.

“These are very difficult times and we await the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review and our budget for 2011-2012.”
