KIND-hearted pupils at a Halesowen school swapped stockings for shoeboxes to help youngsters less fortunate than themselves this Christmas.
Children at Newfield Park Primary School have packed small gifts in the shoeboxes as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal.
More than 170 boxes - which have been collected to mark the school's harvestcelebrations - will be sent to children around the world.
Headteacher Angela Mander said: "Instead of getting children to bring in tins of food for a traditional harvest collection, we asked them to make up shoeboxes for children of a similar age to themselves.
"We thought this was a good way of helping the children to understand how lucky they are - and to think about children who may not have a Christmas present otherwise.
"Our children are very kind and generous and loved producing the shoeboxes."
Year three pupil Isobel Cooper said: "I liked doing the shoeboxes because we have nice Christmases and other people need to have nice Christmases too."
