Leasowes Community College in Halesowen have released this year's GCSE results with both staff and pupils being delighted with the results.

Students have achieved groundbreaking GCSE results with 96% of students achieving 5 or more A*- C grades. Acting Principal Neil Shaw was delighted with the 17% improvement and praised students, staff, parents and governors for their tremendous hard work and support.

He said: “Only 8 students in the entire year group failed to achieve five or more passes at C+ and this shows impressive improvement.”

The figure for students achieving 5 or more A* - C grades including English and mathematics has also risen to 52%, and the college’s 2011 English Baccalaureate score is also an improvement which will easily maintain their place in the top seven of Dudley’s top performing English Baccalaureate schools.

Chair of Governors Gill Withers added: “A very significant step forward in the college’s ambitions for the future.”
