CHILDREN at a Halesowen primary school gave their retiring teacher a fitting send off after 27 years in the job.
Janet Harris touched thousands of pupils lives during her time at Howley Grange Primary School and she was given a special leaving assembly.
Over 400 of the children wrote personal messages for Mrs Harris in several books for her to read at her leisure during retirement.
Janet, aged 64, said: “I had a wonderful time at Howley Grange and the children and staff made my last day really special.
“I enjoyed reading all the dittys that the children had written me so there was a lot of laughter and a few tears as well.”
She added: “I thought it was time to call it day and am looking forward to spending more time at my caravan near Ludlow however, my daughter is expecting twins so I think I might be busier than planned.”
