Quinton Methodist Church turned out in force to celebrate one of the congregation’s 100th birthday.
Harry Williams is a direct descendant of William Williams who wrote the famous hymn Guide Me Oh Thy Great Jehova.
The centenarian has been a popular figure in the Birmingham West and Oldbury circuit for nearly 70 years after being born into a chapel family in South Wales.
Helena Taylor, from Quinton Methodist Church, said: “We held a special service, conducted by the Reverend Brian Taylor, a former Minister at Quinton, to celebrate Harry's 100th birthday.
“Family and friends and members of the congregation, many of whom had, over the years, moved away, but came back to celebrate with Harry.”
