DUDLEY South MP Mike Wood was among those getting into the festive spirit at Wordsley's annual Festival of Christmas Trees.

The Conservative MP's custom decorated tree was among 70 displayed at the event held at Holy Trinity Church in the High Street at the weekend.

Mr Wood's offering, his third since being elected to Parliament in 2015, featured baubles showcasing the designs from the winner and runners-up of his annual Christmas card competition.

He said of the event: “The ambience in the church was truly special. It was wonderful to see how many groups and individuals had participated in this event. My thanks go once again to the organisers and volunteers who made this a magical weekend at Holy Trinity.”

Businesses, community groups, schools and a host of other organisations also decorated trees for the event which also included a Christmas fair.

Kay Entwistle, church warden of Holy Trinity and organiser of the event, said, “The festival is so special because it brings the community together in one place.

"This is the eighth consecutive year that Holy Trinity has hosted this beautiful festival in the church."
