RESIDENTS are urged to take part in free exercise classes taking place in parks across the borough, as the scheme goes from strength to strength.

The 30-minute sessions, which take place during the weekend, are led by qualified instructors for all ages and abilities and take place at Stevens Park in Wollescote, Buffery Park in Kates Hill, Abbey Street in Gornal, Stevens Park in Quarry Bank and Grange Park in Dudley.

The sessions have been attended more than 400 times in the first six weeks, according to Dudley Council.

Deborah Harkins, statutory director of public health at Dudley Council, said: "The feedback we have had is that people are enjoying being outside in the fresh air in a lovely setting while being active. As well as boosting their physical health people have told us they are feeling happier during the week after taking part.

"These sessions are for everyone, as people can work at their own level. We have lots of fabulous parks and nature reserves in the borough and I encourage everyone to get outside and be active this spring.”

The sessions are run in partnership between Halesowen College and the local friends of parks groups and are supported by Dudley Council.
